The playground in Leigh (left), http://www.leigh-surrey.org.uk, had been established for many years but was moribund and in need of updating.  It lies next to the recreation ground and opposite the Village Hall, Post Code: RH2 8NP.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside with car parking adjacent to it, it was felt that the playground should be a focal point of the village used by children of all ages and abilities from the village and surrounding areas.

PLAY (Playground for Leigh's Active Youth), a sub committee of Leigh Parish Council, comprises seven parishioners with the backing of many village organisations,  has had exciting and innovative new play equipment installed to improve the existing area.  The final portion of funds has been raised, bringing to an end a highly impressive project after four years of hard work.

The whole community was invited to give their views as to what they want from the playground with an emphasis on what the children would like.  Here is a summary of the consultation of the older children.
